A beauty event has to work for three people at once: the shopper discovering a product, the founder meeting customers, and the professional looking for a conversation worth having.
Beauty in the Motherland (BITM) 2026 brought all three together at Eko Hotel, Lagos. The event was officially opened on 4 October and ran from 5 to 7 October, welcoming over 3,000 guests, over 300 exhibitors from across Nigeria and beyond, and over 100 panellists from the beauty industry. Six sponsors supported it: Afrimed, Fidelity, Imperio, Vaseline, Dove, Livespot, and Rent A Rig.
How Beauty in the Motherland 2026 Came to Life
Every Livespot project starts with a point of view. For BITM, ours began with one idea: African beauty is personal expression, and it is also a field of business opportunity. An event can make both visible at once.
That idea gave each audience a reason to take part in a single celebration. Visitors would recognise themselves in the experience, meet new ideas, and connect with the people behind the products. The exhibition, the conference, and the audience activities were designed as parts of one system, each with a clear purpose, an easy way for guests to engage, and a place in the wider programme.
The Design Behind Beauty in the Motherland 2026
The creative direction gave that idea a recognisable look. Bold pinks, cobalt blues, and oranges set an energetic tone, while cream surfaces, flowers, and greenery introduced softer moments. African hairstyles, textiles, and cultural imagery placed African people at the centre of the story.
Curves, layered arches, and graphic patterns carried that identity across the venue and linked spaces with different functions. The same visual language gave photographs and recorded content a clear association with Beauty in the Motherland.
The Guest Experience at Beauty in the Motherland 2026
The first interactions set the tone for everything after them. Guests were accredited on arrival, then walked a branded welcome route through the tunnel, the foyer, and the convention centre, with step-and-repeat walls and photo points along the way. Arrival branding and the entrance treatment introduced the event’s character, and a second entrance extended the same welcome to guests arriving from another direction.
From there, guests chose their path: the marketplace to shop, or the Grand Ballroom for the knowledge sessions. Venue guides, directional signs, and a schedule wall helped them decide how to spend their time, and branded walkways and installations made the routes between destinations part of the experience.
Every day followed this same flow, so guests and exhibitors arrived each morning into a familiar setting.
The Production of Beauty in the Motherland 2026
Behind the guest experience sat a set of purpose-built environments, each designed around what visitors would do there.
Sponsor walls introduced brands as visitors moved through the venue, each keeping its own colours, imagery, and product presentation within the shared look. The exhibition offered a place for closer interaction, where guests could explore an offering, ask questions, and meet representatives directly. The Beauty Lab added a personal setting for guided discovery and demonstrations, with a counter and product displays that focused attention on the conversation between a visitor and a representative.
Photography had its own settings. A reflective booth, a magazine cover installation, seated photo opportunities, and floral backdrops gave guests different moods and compositions to choose from. A claw machine and the Beauty Playground added playful activities alongside browsing and conference attendance. The Content Studio gave interviews a dedicated home, with seating and a branded background that created a consistent setting for capturing participants and industry voices.
For the conference, a defined stage, a central screen, and theatre seating kept every eye on the speakers. Around the programme, smaller seating groups offered places to continue an exchange or meet a potential collaborator, and a VIP lounge provided a dedicated setting for hosted guests.
The Exhibition and Conference at Beauty in the Motherland 2026
Exhibitors and panellists covered every area of beauty, from hair to general skincare, and the marketplace included a nail segment. Guests could shop a wide range of brands, including some that were new to them, speak with the owners one-on-one, and learn about the products as they went. The marketplace stayed busy through all three days, with a flash mob performing between sessions and a hype man and DJ keeping the floor lively.
Over seven sessions run each day, featuring different brands, beauty enthusiasts, and experienced moderators. Panellists spoke about the state of the industry, their personal stories, their products, market strategy, and the impact of social media and influence.
Day 3, 7 October, began at about 10 am with another round of sessions. Upcoming brands pitched their businesses to win support, and a winner was selected. The nail competition was also awarded, and some brands received free mentorship and visibility. Co-founders Beatrice Eneh and Linda Edozien gave the closing remarks, thanking everyone who contributed to the event.
The Awards Dinner at Beauty in the Motherland 2026
On the evening of Day 2, 6 October, the Grand Ballroom became a banquet and lounge with a photo corner. The room hosted friends of the brand, exhibitors, panellists, and representatives of the government and the banks.
Guests arrived from 7 pm. After accreditation, the Pink Living Roses ladies received them, and they enjoyed photo opportunities and a welcome snack. Eniola and Nancy Isime hosted the evening. The Awanjo Dancers gave the opening performance, and twelve awards were presented to brands across different categories. Fidelity Bank’s Managing Director and CEO, Nneka Onyeali-Ikpe, received a special recognition award for her leadership. Yemi Alade performed while dinner was served, and an after-party with DJ Pretty Play followed the awards.
