The Brief: The Committee of Wives of Lagos State Officials (COWLSO) is a community-based gender organization working to complement the efforts of the Lagos State Government to promote child healthcare, women empowerment, and environmental protection. In 2017, Livespot was approached by the wife of the Lagos state governor, Mrs. Bolanle Ambode, to create a befitting anthem for the organization. A song that would embody all that COWLSO stands for.
The Solution: We decided to create an emotional sound. Classic, yet on the precipice of the next frontier for COWLSO, by paying tribute to the past but playing heavily on a united front as a metaphor for strength in carrying out their duties as Mothers and Women leaders of Lagos. The underlying music was simplistic as we deployed only epic drums, strings section, pads and piano and laced them with a strong, yet subtle female voice that churned out the resounding melodies and lyrics.
The Result: The anthem was officially launched in October 2017 to the thousands in attendance at the 16th edition of its annual Women’s Conference held at the prestigious Convention Centre of Eko Hotels. It was a live performance done by some COWLSO members, a choir, and other musicians.
